BRUNCH AT BACCHANAL

There is no shortage of amazing brunch spots to choose from in Toronto yet I'm always on the lookout for somewhere new to try. A friend recently introduced me to a restaurant that has quickly become one of my favourites in the city. Bacchanal is a stylish bistro with a modern take on french cuisine. The interior - a mix of velvet, marble, tweed, and brass - is as instagrammable as it gets.

Don't be fooled by the single page brunch menu, it is definitely not lacking in delicious options. We decided to start with two appetizers:  a Dozen Oysters (very fresh!), and a Leeks Vinaigrette with sabayon and herbs. For our mains we chose the Bacchanal Benedict, the Shakshouka, and the Lobster Salad. The Bacchanal Benedict is done on a rösti with asparagus, bayonne, and bernaise. The Shakshouka is made with poached eggs in mouthwatering mix of tomato, eggplant, and crispy chick peas. Lastly, the Lobster Salad features a refreshing blend of avocado, grapefruit, and sauce remoulade. Everything dish we chose was tasty however, the Shakshouka is one that I still dream about ( I highly recommend it ). After all that deliciousness we were tempted to leave without dessert but I'm so glad we didn't. We shared the Paris - Brest:  a classic french dessert made of choux pastry and hazelnut flavoured cream. This is an absolute must if you are a dessert lover like me.

Bacchanal is in the west-end of the city and although it's in a popular neighbourhood, it's tucked away off the main streets and isn't somewhere you'd typically walk past. Luckily word of mouth is what brought me to this hidden gem and I can't wait to go back again and again.
