SMALL TOWNS & SEAFOOD IN SARDINIA

There are so many beautiful towns in Sardinia but since we had limited time we chose to stay in the seaside town of Alghero. We found a beautiful Airbnb that was walking distance from everywhere we wanted to go, with the exception of the beach which was only a few minutes away by car.  The beach is called Spiagga di Maria Pia and it's beautiful white sand and turquoise water is a must-see.

When we weren't relaxing at the beach we were exploring the cobblestone streets of Alghero's historic centre. Here you'll find cafe-lined piazzas and endless boutiques and restaurants. We tried to eat as much seafood as possible while in Sardinia and sought out the best seafood restaurants we could find. One that I would highly recommend is Il Corallo - everything we ordered was delicious. There they offer a seafood sampler antipasto so we were able to try a taste of several different dishes on one plate.

Walking home from the restaurant we noticed several beautiful floral arrangements hanging from bicycle wheels above the piazzas and later found out they were decorations for the 100th Giro D'Italia, an annual bike race primarily held in Italy.

From the yacht filled harbour and white sand beaches to the amazing restaurants and shops, Alghero is a magical city and I only wish we had more time to explore all it has to offer.
