INTERCONTINENTAL RESORT IN KOH SAMUI

Walking into the lobby of the Intercontinental Resort in Koh Samui (an island in southern Thailand) I knew it would be hard to top this place. From the 5 star customer service to the breathtaking views, it was my definition of "luxury".

We spent our first day exploring the resort and what they had to offer. There are 7 swimming pools, 5 of which are themed according to the colour palette of the sky as it changes throughout the day: Yellow (sun during the day), Orange (the moon), Blue (the stars), Red (sun during sunset) and Purple (sky during sunrise). The other 2 pools are infinity pools and that's where we spent more of our time. The main infinity pool has the most stunning views of the island (and believe it or not we were the only ones in the pool on more than one occasion!)

Next to the main infinity pool is the Air Bar, another one of our favourites. We tried to go there every night to watch the sunset over the ocean while enjoying one of their delicious cocktails. For meals we alternated between eating dinner at the resort and other restaurants in the area. There are several options for food at the resort but we chose their Amber Restaurant and everything we ate was delicious. After dinner we were treated to a live Fire Show on the beach - a special performance that they offer once a week on Sundays.

The next 2 days I arranged for us to go on snorkelling and kayaking day tours and would highly recommend this company. We left in the morning and came back just in time to catch the sunset at the Air Bar. On our last day we decided soak up the sun on the resorts white sand beach and went swimming in the clear turquoise water. If I am lucky enough to return to Thailand for a second time I will definitely be coming back to this amazing resort.
