PARADISE IN POSITANO

After 3 weeks of falling in love with Italy our trip was sadly coming to an end.

We chose to spend our last few days in the Amalfi Coast's most picturesque town - Positano. It is almost entirely vertical, built on the side of a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean. We stayed in a cute and cosy airbnb at the top of Positano, which was an affordable alternative to the luxurious ( and pricey ) resorts. Our Airbnb had a private balcony and a shared terrace both offering a breathtaking view.  It was the perfect spot to watch the sunset each night.

Getting anywhere in Positano requires lots of steps - I think our Airbnb was several hundred steps from the main beach. Unfortunately theres no way around it, but wandering down the narrow paths and winding streets lined with boutiques and cafes makes the experience worthwhile. You can find everything from leather sandals to linen tunics however keep in mind Positano is notoriously expensive. After we were done shopping we headed down to the main beach Spiagga Grande. Although the beach is made up of pebbles rather than white sand its definitely worth visiting.

Ending our Italy trip in this laid back and slow-paced town was exactly what we needed, and this little slice of heaven on the Amalfi Coast was all that I had imagined it to be.

John Steinbeck said it best when he said:

“Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”
